ET/BWMGR CD AppliancesWhat is a CD Appliance?A CD appliance is a bandwidth management appliance that you can build from a CD. The CD is "live", in that you can run the system from the CD itself. This allows you to test the software on your hardware before you buy a license, and also to evaluate the software with a minimum of effort. Are the CD Demo and CD Appliance different CDs?No. The CD Appliance is built from the Demo CD. You will not be able to build a system on your own hard drive until you buy a license. However you will be able to use the same CD that you used for the demo to build the final system. This is important, because you want to be sure that the system will run on your hardware without problems. Make sure you test your hardware with the demo CD before buying a license. FreeBSD O/SAs of v4.0, we are discontinuig LINUX support. Linux simply doesn't measure up and we'd prefer to focus our efforts on supporting future versions of FreeBSD. Now that FreeBSD has finally evolved into a serious SMP platform, our interest in LINUX and its licensing is diminished. For instructions on a FreeBSD-based CD Demo/Appliance, Click here |
