ET/BWMGR v4.2What's New in v4.2?
ET/BWMGR v4.1What's New in v4.1?
ET/BWMGR v4.1 for Freebsd 7.0v4.1 represents a major overhaul of our subsystems to take much better advantage of multicore systems. Support for the 82575 and 82598 multiqueue ethernet NICs and a customized forwarding module (fastbridge) allow for substantial performance improvements in system capacity. The majority of the changes are not visible to users in the form of features. What you will see is lower cpu utilization for the same workloads. The Fastbridge is a custom forwarding modules that replaces the bridge. If you are using a 3rd NIC for access then you can use the fastbridge (2 interfaces, No IP address on the interface). The fastbridge can give you a 20-25% gain in system performance. Systems with Quad Core (or 8 core) Processors can use our 82575-base Bypass card (ET/575Failover) to help to spread the system load across all of the cores. The 82575 uses multiple interrupts and multiple receive and transmit queues and allows for parallel processing with much greater efficiency. The 82598 base 10gb/s bypass card (ET/10gFailover) uses the same principles with CX4 connectors for use on 10gb/s networks. Throughput up to 3M pps can be managed on properly configured hardware. Auto Interrupt Modulation reduces the system load by optimizing the interrupt rate based on traffic levels. The interrupt rate is dynamically managed to keep your system tuned as your traffic levels change. |
