Using Time of Day Profiles in ET/BWMGR v8

ET/BWMGR v8 has a new, more flexible way of allowing you to control what bandwidth settings are applied at different times of day. In previous versions, "Profile Transitions" required you to create a series of profiles where one profile would be "active" at different times of day. The new mechanism is easier and also more flexible.

Time Profiles

Time profiles allow you to perform actions at specific times of day and on specific days. You can use these to change a rule's profile, to enable or disable the rule, or to enable or disable bandwidth controls.

For our example, I've defined some simple bandwidth profiles.

Time Profiles

The first profile changes a rule's profile at 02:00 and restares the rule's default profile at 05:30.

Let's create a new time proile named Foo that is to be applied on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

To create a time profile, give it a name, select the days of the week that you want it to apply:

New Time Profile

You can apply multiple actions to a Time Profile; typically you need 2. When you click on the "time" field, a selector will pop up:

Time Picker

Click Set to close the window and select your time.

You can then select an action to peforman at the time you selected. I'm going to disable bandwidth controls on the at 1AM (01:00);

Time Profile Action

I'll add another action at 6AM (06:00) to re-enable the bandwidth setting for the rule.

New Time Profile Done

Now press Save Profile.

Time Profile Saved

You'll notice that times and actions are separated by commas; each time entry corresponds to the like positioned Action. Now I'll create a second Time Profile.
